According to sources close to the Midwestern NWSL outfit, former US Women’s National Team manager Vlatko Andonovski is set to be announced as manager of Kansas City Current.

The Associated Press has reported that the Macedonian-American will take over imminently.

During his four-year tenure with the USWNT, Andonovski oversaw the worst-ever World Cup campaign by the US. Not great for the four-time World Champions. He was eventually replaced after handing in his resignation.

This happened shortly after Sweden eliminated his side during a penalty shoot-out from the World Cup in 2023.

Andonovski has history in Kansas, after spending four successful years with the now defunct FC Kansas City. The spell saw his side secure back-to-back NWSL Championships in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Despite a less-than-desired World Cup performance with the USWNT, Andonovski managed to find success. He led his star-studded side to four SheBelieves trophies, won the CONCACAF, and finished third in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
