In November, a report from Calciomercato claimed Dusan Vlahovic was nowhere near signing a contract extension with Juventus, with The Express claiming Arsenal were still interested in bringing the striker to north London.
The Italian outlet claimed Juventus were eager to extend Vlahovic’s deal, but with a pay cut. With the striker unwilling to agree to those terms, talks were put on hold.
As a result, Calciomercato wrote that Juventus would consider Vlahovic’s sale in January or at the end of the season.
But Vlahovic seemed to play down the rumours, telling Gazzetta (via Fabrizio Romano): “I’m very happy to be at Juventus.
“I still have two and a half years left on my contract here at Juve, we’re in no rush but director Giuntoli and my agent are already talking.”
Vlahovic has scored five goals in his 11 appearances for Juventus this season, playing solely in Serie A.
The side aren’t competing in European competition, and they won’t kick off their Coppa Italia campaign until 2024.
Yet Vlahovic has still had a disrupted campaign, despite Juventus’ clear schedule.
The Serbian international missed a couple of games with back problems in October, and he’s only started seven of his 11 appearances, including just two of the last five.
Combine that with reports that Juventus want to give him a pay cut, and Vlahovic has plenty of reasons to feel unsettled. Yet, at least publicly, he seems to be suggesting he’s still happy where he is.
