Vitor Roque agent softens tone with Barcelona but exit still on the table with three clubs interested

Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons more than the right ones during his fledgling career in Catalonia, and it could still be a short stay at the club.

After Sporting Director Deco brought forward his move from the summer to January, paying €30m plus €31m in variables for him, Roque barely saw action under Xavi Hernandez. It all came to a head when Roque’s agent Andre Cury publicly declared that either he would start playing more, or he would be on his way out of the club.

The arrival of Hansi Flick obviously changes the situation somewhat, with Roque potentially getting a fresh chance under the German coach. Sport say that tensions have cooled somewhat since Cury’s statement, and they have communicated to Barcelona that they will accept the decision is made on Roque’s future.

They are still not open to a loan move – Xavi’s preference – feeling it will not help his career, but will make things as easy as possible if Vitor Roque, decide to hold onto the 19-year-old, or if they decide to put him up for sale, and will not try to push the matter any further. The Catalan daily add that three European clubs have been in contact with Cury, expressing their interest in Roque.

If Barcelona can attract an offer that would see them make a profit beyond the €30m already spent on Roque, it seems likely they would be open to accepting it. The Blaugrana are short of resources as it is, and it seems they have more pressing priorities, given the fact Robert Lewandowski looks likely to be their number nine for next season.
