The drama is now officially over. Flamengo have sold Lincoln to Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe.
On Wednesday, the J-League 1 side announced the signing, which is believed to be a sale of $3m for 75% of the striker’s economic rights.
The club have signed the 20-year-old to a three-year deal, which includes a two-year club option.
Flamengo initially were going to loan the player to Vissel Kobe which would have included an option-to-buy. However, after Major League Soccer’s FC Cincinnati made an offer to buy the player, Flamengo rejected all loan offers.
Though irritated, last year’s 14th-place club went ahead and struck an agreement to buy the player in full.
All in all, one of Flamengo’s brightest young talents leaves the club after making 64 first-team appearances and scoring eight goals.
Unfortunately, he will always be remembered for his famous miss in the 2020 Club World Cup final against Liverpool.
