Visa issues prevent Lisandro Martinez & Cristian Romero from travelling to USA for Argentina matches | OneFootball

Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero have been unable to travel to the USA for Argentina's friendlies when originally planned, with the temporary closure of the United Kingdom's American embassy preventing them from getting their visas.

Martinez and Romero both play in the Premier League, with the former joining Manchester United this summer and the latter playing for Tottenham since last year, and their residence in England has caused problems for both ahead of their nation's friendly matches in America with Honduras and Jamaica.

Due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the US Embassy in London has been closed, and according to TyC Sports, that has meant that the defenders haven't been able to get their required visas as of yet.

As a result, both are currently unable to travel to the US to join up with the rest of the Argentina squad ahead of the side's first match of the break on Saturday.

Whether they'll be able to get their visas and so before the match is unclear, as is the situation of the other Premier League players that are in the squad - Emiliano Martinez, Alexis Mac Allister and Julian Alvarez.

While the games are only friendlies, they're still hugely important ones for the Argentina, being the last they will play before travelling to Qatar for the World Cup in November.

Argentina are one of the most fancied teams heading into the tournament, with only Brazil and France ahead of them in most bookies' lists of favourites.
