Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk has put any doubts about his future to bed by signing a new two-year deal that’ll keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027.
The 33-year-old was out of contract at the end of the season, but the club’s now tied him down for another couple of years.
Despite turning 34 in July, Van Dijk’s been in top form this season under fellow Dutchman Arne Slot, once again showing why he’s still one of the best defenders in the game.
He’s been ever-present in the Premier League and is set to captain Liverpool to their record-equalling 20th league title.
It’s been a glittering spell for the Dutchman on Merseyside — with a Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup to his name in 314 games for the club.
The news comes just six days after Mohamed Salah also signed a fresh deal, showing the club’s big names aren’t going anywhere just yet.
