With football on hold for the foreseeable future, Virgil van Dijk has some time on his hands and has been answering fan questions on his various social media platforms.
On his Instagram page, the Netherlands international was asked who was the best Celtic player he ever played with.
Having been in Glasgow from 2013 to 2015, the Champions League-winning centre-back has played with stars such as captain Scott Brown, Fraser Forster, James Forrest, Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor, and Gary Hooper amongst others.
However, van Dijk didn’t name any of those big names and instead claimed current Fulham midfielder and Norway captain Stefan Johansen was tops.
“I loved my time at Celtic and played with so many top players but a special mention for Stefan Johansen,” van Dijk replied.
A particularly odd answer since Johansen only played two seasons at Celtic (one with van Dijk) and was sold to Fulham for the same £2m fee that the Hoops paid Strømsgodset for his services.
However, that 2014-15 campaign was arguably Johansen’s best, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists while featuring an incredible 56 times in five different positions.
