Virgil van Dijk has backed himself to continue playing at the highest level for at least another four years as he once again reaffirmed his love for current club Liverpool.

The Dutch centre-back is approaching the final six months of his contract and has already turned down at least one offer of an extension, although he recently confirmed he was not putting a deadline on his talks with Liverpool.

In perhaps the biggest hint on his future so far, Van Dijk admitted to Amazon Prime that he feels a mutual love from Liverpool and has no desire to walk away from the spotlight at this point in his career.

"I love the club, the club loves me," he vowed. "I love the fans, the fans love me and it is a very good foundation to be successful.

"In my opinion I can play for another three, four years at least at the highest level. We will see what the future brings."

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who made 182 appearances alongside the Dutchman during his time at Anfield, also warned the Reds that securing Van Dijk's future should be a "top" priority.

"I feel like Virgil could play until 39 or 40 if he wanted to," Henderson said. "For me, if they give him a contract for two, three, four years, it would be a pretty good bit of business for the club."
