Vinícius Júnior has yet to make his debut under Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane due to injury and admitted he, along with others on the squad, is a bit starstruck.
The 18-year-old Brazilian sensation injured his ankle against Ajax during their Champions League exit and believes he’ll be on the pitch again as soon as he is able to.
“When a guy like him who played so well is sitting on the bench and talks about anything you just have to pay close attention, right?” Vinícius exclaimed on Brazilian TV station Globo.
“Sometimes we get a bit nervous when we go to talk to him but he does everything he can so that the players can focus on their job.
“I know he gives minutes to everyone. Right now we’re focusing on the next season but I’m calm because I know that I will get a chance to play when I complete my recovery.”
With a Champions League place for next season virtually clinched and first place well beyond their reach with six games to play, Vinícius should have little trouble getting back on the pitch before the season ends.
