A Vinicius Junior brace saw Real Madrid fight back for a point away to Valencia.
Scorers: Duro 27′, Yaremchuck 30′ ; Vinicius Junior 45+5′, 76′
It was a rip-roaring opening 45 minutes, and Valencia felt they should have had a commanding lead.
Two goals in three minutes from Hugo Duro and Roman Yaremchuk saw Valencia race out to a two-goal lead, but Vinicius Junior quieted the raucous crowd on the stroke of half-time with a close-range strike to cut the Real Madrid deficit.
Los Blancos pushed to find the equaliser in after the break, and they found through their talisman in the final 15 minutes when Vinicius Junior popped up to complete his brace and earn Real a point.
It was the visitors turn to feel aggrieved at the final whistle when the referee blew for full-time just as Real Madrid appeared to be scoring what would have been a dramatic winner at the death.
Mayhem ensued, but Valencia held on to their point.
Having played one more game than their chasers, Real Madrid have a seven-point lead over Girona.
