Vinicius Junior enjoyed a breakthrough season at Real Madrid in 2021/22.
In prior campaigns, the Brazilian winger flattered to deceive in the famous white jersey. There were glimpses of his frightening talent, but nowhere near enough end product.
That all changed in 2021/22, though. Vinicius has now moved firmly into the football’s elite bracket after scoring 22 goals and assisting a further 20 across all competitions.
The former Flamengo man even bagged Real Madrid‘s only goal in their 1-0 Champions League final victory over Liverpool, which saw them win club football’s biggest competition for a record-extending 14th time.
As well as racking up some seriously impressive numbers, Vinicius showcased his insane dribbling ability and catalogue of skill moves throughout the campaign.
Every week a new clip seemed to surface of the 21-year-old leaving another helpless opponent chasing shadows with his outrageously quick feet.
One Real Madrid fan believes Vinicius is able to do things with a football that Kylian Mbappe simply can not and has created a video compilation to highlight their point.
Mbappe famously rejected a move to Los Blancos last month and opted to sign a lucrative three-year contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain, a decision which angered Madridistas.
So that’s probably why the fans are desperately trying to convince themselves that Vinicius is the superior player.
To be fair, the compilation is pretty spectacular…
Imagine being tasked with trying to stop Vinicius in full flow? The kid is a special, special footballer.
However, let’s not get away from the fact that Mbappe is one of the most devastating players on the planet and can do things that Vinicius simply can not.
While the Brazilian may be very slightly better at dribbling with the ball, Mbappe excels far more at using it in the final third, which is backed up by his superhuman-like stats.
In 2021/22, the PSG man scored 39 goals and assisted 26 more, the most goal contributions of any players in Europe.
Vinicius and Mbappe are both ridiculously good players and look set to dominate the game at the very highest level for the foreseeable future.
But at this very moment in time, Mbappe has the edge and if you don’t think that’s the case, you’re letting Real Madrid bias cloud your judgment…
