Vinicius Jr and the Mestalla have a long running history of conflict. The last time the player played at the stadium, he was subjected to severe racial slur in an unfortunate development, bringing poor name to both Valencia and their fans.

Ahead of the meeting this weekend, Netflix wished to document Vinicius’ outing at Mestalla but was denied entry into the stadium. Tensions were high ahead of kick-off as well, with several posters directed against the Brazilian star confiscated by security.

In the end, the Real Madrid winger enjoyed a good outing scoring twice in front of the stadium that insulted him severely last year. In fact, he even performed a special celebration routine on the night that emphasised on the world’s stance against racism.

In the end, however, his 250th game for the club did not end as hoped. The arbitration error at the end denied Los Blancos three points, sending Real Madrid players and fans into serious rage.

Speaking to the media after the game, the youngster commented on reaching the milestone of 250 games with Real Madrid and his ambitions going forward.

“I’m very happy, fulfilling my dreams, which is playing so much for Madrid. I never imagined I’d play so many games. I want to continue making history and be among the best players to have worn this shirt.”

He also went on to explain the game that unfolded at Mestalla and how the men in white were hard-done by the refereeing, not for the first time this season.

“It was a very difficult game. After conceding two goals we managed to equalise and in the end we didn’t manage to win because they didn’t let us. We have to continue to be strong, we need the fans to be with us because we’re going to need them.”
