Vinicius gave his side the lead in the 42nd minute. The Brazilian’s cross from the left-hand side evaded everyone and nestled in the corner of the net.

Osasuna restored parity five minutes after half-time through Kike Garcia.

Los Blancos were then given a golden opportunity to win it with 11 minutes remaining.

David Garcia bundled over Benzema inside the box. A penalty was given after a VAR check, with Garcia also receiving his marching orders.

Benzema stepped up and Vinicius seemed to be extremely confident that his teammate would hit the back of the net and give his side the lead once more.

The Brazilian could be seen raising his arms in celebration as Benzema stepped up.

However, Vinicius’ confidence was misplaced as Benzema’s effort hit the top of the crossbar and out for a goal-kick. Watch the moment below…

Vinicius had a little bit too much confidence that his teammate would hit the back of the net.

He put his hands down and on his head after watching the ball strike the bar and out for a goal-kick.

Benzema’s missed penalty proves costly

Benzema’s missed penalty proved costly as Real Madrid failed to score a winner and dropped points for the first time this season.

They have now picked up six wins and a draw in their opening seven La Liga games of the campaign.

They have now dropped to second behind Barcelona in the table.

The fierce rivals are level on 19 points but Xavi’s side have a superior goal difference.

The two teams will contest the first Clasico of the season at the Bernabeu on October 16.
