Reaction to the game against Stuttgart

Max Eberl: “We always stayed calm. The game was in our hands, and we controlled it. In the first half, we weren’t as active as we have been in previous weeks. Stuttgart had a chance in the second half. It was dangerous, but it sparked something for us. And then it’s Harry Kane who scores. I’m pleased for him. He works so hard for the team – people often forget that. And then he added another two on top of that to show what a killer he is.”

Vincent Kompany: “We had to be patient and couldn’t allow them to have any counterattacks. I had the feeling that we could work our chances a little better. Stuttgart are a great side. It was a very good performance. After the first half, it was all about staying calm. I’m very happy with the result. We’ve won can celebrate a bit, before we take on Barcelona. We are always working on the details to keep on improving ourselves.”

Harry Kane: “We played well. The first goal was very important. It opened the game up. I always have faith in myself. It’s how it is being a striker: if you don’t score, then there are questions asked. I’m just happy. In the second half, we stepped it up a notch and Stuttgart couldn’t keep up.”

Thomas Müller: “Overall, we didn’t allow Stuttgart to have any joy on the ball. From the start, they decided to play very long, which isn’t really their game. Until their half chance in the first half, they hadn’t had many and we were sloppy in front of goal. In the second half, we simply converted our chances. We were fluid. A bit untidy with the ball in the first half, but we had the right ideas.”

Reaction from the Stuttgart camp

Sebastian Hoeneß (Coach, VfB Stuttgart): “We let four goals go in in 30 minutes. The first hour was okay. Bayern surely won’t be too happy with those first 60 minutes either. That was the goal, among other things, to not give away possession. We didn’t do enough with the chances we created. That’s where you’ve got to be clinical. We gave away an avoidable goal after a great chance for us. It was one thing after another, that just took our sting out of the game.”

Deniz Undav (VfB Stuttgart): “Bayern were superior in every regard, in the press and on the ball. We had one or two chances ourselves. If we utilised them better, the game could’ve gone differently.”

Alexander Nübel (VfB Stuttgart): We defended very well. They were very good too. The first half was even. They didn’t have many chances, but neither did we. Bayern were up for it. You could feel it on the pitch. We did well in the first half but it wasn’t enough in the end. We wanted to pick up points here. Last year we did well and we wanted to build on that. It definitely wasn’t a nice evening for me.”
