Former Roma defender Vincent Candela weighed in on the busy summer that awaits Roma just around the corner.
As Daniele De Rossi prepares to oversee his first summer transfer window as Roma’s head coach, Candela discussed the young manager’s situation at the club and what this summer may hold for the Giallorossi.
“Now he begins the real job,” Candela told Corriere dello Sport.
“Daniele had three months to learn, look and reflect. Roma didn’t contend for he Scudetto but they weren’t even in tenth place and now De Rossi will have clear ideas on where to put his hands to improve the team. He knows what needs to be done.”
“One step away from the final, one step away from the Champions League, he now needs to make an extra effort and first of all create a united team, with the same way of thinking, acting, pursuing objectives.”
“The market? In football it is not always just a problem of money to spend. Around us there are many examples of teams built with ideas and who specialized in finding the right players. Working to get them before they are discovered and too expensive is one of the keys to modern football.”
“Dybala is a cornerstone for the team, the club, the environment and the image of the club. Making him central to the club’s project must be a priority for Roma,” Candela concluded.
