A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Villarreal is primed to depart the club as a free agent this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing EFE, who highlight Kiko Femenía as the player in question.
The representatives of right-back Kiko had been locked in talks with the Villarreal brass for several weeks now.
This came after the two parties expressed a willingness to negotiate a contract extension, ahead of the expiration of his current terms at the end of June.
As alluded to above, though, in the end, such discussions failed to bear fruit.
Kiko, it is claimed, was offered a two-year renewal by those behind the scenes at La Cerámica.
The 34-year-old, however, ultimately came to the decision not to accept as much, evidently of the opinion that superior terms could be on offer elsewhere.
Though talks being reopened between the parties later in the summer cannot be ruled out, as things stand, Kiko is therefore primed to bring an imminent end to his three-year Villarreal spell.
