The president of Villarreal, Fernando Roig, did not give much away regarding whether AC Milan are advancing in talks over Samuel Chukwueze.

Roig spoke at a press conference about the Spanish club’s summer transfer window, giving various clues about the future and also throwing a bit of a jab at Milan who are reportedly in for Chukwueze. His comments were relayed via Calciomercato.com.

Are you planning a large investment?

“We want to be a healthy club and this forces us, over a period of four or five years, to buy and sell. We have spent €70m on the stadium.”

What can you say about Milan’s interest in Chukwueze?

“I don’t know if Milan are interested in the player. But if the interest is the same as when they came for Mateo Musacchio, with Dr. Galliani at the helm, and they said they had no money, then let’s eat fideuà [a dish from the area] and go home.”

The latest from Matteo Moretto of Relevo stated that Milan have made a first verbal offer for Chukwueze worth around €25m including bonuses. However, it is not close to enough as the LaLiga side want ‘almost €35m’ to sell him.

The player is open to the potential of joining the Rossoneri though as per Moretto, while his contract expires in 2024 and that might put a bit of pressure on Villarreal to cash in.
