Villarreal announce Pape Gueye signing | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Villarreal have on Friday announced a fresh addition to the club’s midfield ranks.

The player to have taken his talents to La Cerámica for next season? Pape Gueye.

Midfielder Gueye, for his part, announced his departure from French football with Olympique de Marseille early last week.

As much came ahead of the expiration of the 25-year-old’s contract at the end of the month.

Gueye, in turn, entered the free agent market, amid interest in his services on the part of a whole host of clubs across the continent.

And, as alluded to above, on Friday, one such outfit have closed a deal for the Senegalese international.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of La Liga side Villarreal:

‘We have reached an agreement with Pape Gueye for the French-Senegalese footballer to wear the yellow jersey for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2028.

‘The new midfielder is scheduled to undergo medical and stress tests on July 8th, prior to the start of the season.’

Gueye’s Yellow Submarine switch will see him reunited with former head coach Marcelino, after the pair spent time working together at the aforementioned Marseille.
