Villans in International action this summer

Article image:Villans in International action this summer

The dust has barely settled on the 2023-24 Premier League season and transfer rumours have begun and some of our players are now turning their attention to their International teams.

In a perfect world, most, if not all of our squad would like a long break this summer, but these players dream of representing their countries whenever they can. The Euro’s kick off on June 14th and The Copa America 6 days later on the 20th.

England

Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa were named amongst the pre-Euro training squad today by Gareth Southgate. The former Villa defender has named the two Villans in a 33-man squad. Seven players will be released on June 7th just in time for the competition in Germany.

Both Villa players will be hoping to feature in the two home friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 3rd, followed by Iceland on June 7th.

Argentina

It was no real surprise when Emiliano Martínez was named to the Argentina squad for the Copa America.

La Albiceleste will be looking to defend the title they won in Brazil in 2021 for the tournament this summer in the USA.

Friendlies will occur against Ecuador on June 9th, followed by Guatemala on June 14th.

Brazil

Douglas Luiz will be hoping he can help Seleção to victory in the Copa America as they look to get revenge on Argentina, who beat them in the final in 2021.

Brazil will warm up to the competition with friendlies against Mexico on June 9th, followed by the USA on June 13th.

I am sure Monchi and his transfer team will have eyes on both competitions this summer. Best of luck to the Villans taking part.
