Enzo Fernandez scored a penalty to give Chelsea a two goal cushion against Fulham, and showed a lot of frustration in his celebration.

If you were wondering why he was so wound up, we’ve figured it out.

The press seats being behind the dugout at Stamford Bridge always give us an excellent insight into little bits and pieces from the benches, and this was a great example.

As the teams went in for half time, the TV cameras were focused on Marco Silva, who was furious about his side’s disallowed goal and the extra extra time which allowed Chelsea to score late on. He waited for the referee at the sideline, but behind him there was more drama.

Enzo Fernandez ran in to the dressing room and appeared to offer his captain’s armband to a staff member in a gesture of petulance saying “go on then, take me off.”

We had noticed how poorly he was playing in the first half, but we hadn’t noticed this attitude until now. Instead of getting angry at fans and coaches

You can see the midfielder’s action in the clip from Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail here:

Enzo indulges in more acts of petulance

Gill noted that this wasn’t the only flash of anger we saw from Fernandez in the first half. He was also apparently “yelling at fans and his bench,” with Andrey Santos already warming up as his potential replacement.

In the end, Enzo stayed on and banged in the penalty, meaning he ends the day with a goal and an assist at least.

We’re sure this won’t lead to any lingering bad blood because we’ve won the 3 points – but it’s not great leadership from Enzo.
