Another 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park and another Man-of-the-Match Award for Kristoffer Ajer, who is probably also the most likely Player of the Year winner in this underwhelming season for the Hoops. The Norwegian defender, who may well be leaving Celtic this summer, will at least depart with his he’d held higher than some others, having stayed and contributed to the cause in this dreadfully disappointing season, when so much was at stake.
Ajer might be tempted by a big money offer to stay to help in the re-build and become a real leader at Celtic. He could achieve great things at Celtic and he does enjoy playing for the club. But modern football being what it is, his ambitions are probably to play in a bigger league and his change of agents a while back suggests that this is going to be the last few months we’ll have him playing for the Celtic.

Yesterday he spoke to Celtic TV after what was a tight match with only the one goal from Odsonne Edouard separating the sides. “It was a really tough game, Aberdeen made it difficult and it was good to get another three points. I think we have to give honour to Aberdeen, they pressed the full game, they ran a lot and they’re a fit bunch of lads,” Ajer told Celtic TV.
“We knew it was going to be tough, but I think we did what we needed to do. We wanted to play football today, and I think we did that in the first half especially. We had to play out from the back and I think we did that well today.
“We’re hurting with the performances this season. We haven’t been good enough, but we need to keep that togetherness going, like we showed today, and keep picking up three points.”
