Pedro Neto continued his recent good form as he scored in Portugal’s 5-1 win against Poland in the Nations League on Friday night.

The Portugal international arrived at Chelsea in the summer from Wolves in a deal worth an initial £51.4m, much to the excitement of supporters.

The 24-year-old was one of three high profile attacking signings to arrive with Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho the other two, as Chelsea really added to their attacking options.

Neto continues good form with goal for Portugal

Neto had a slow start as he settled in and was mainly used in the cup competitions to begin with and scored his first goal for the club against Barrow in the Carabao Cup.

However, in recent weeks the winger has really stepped up his performances, and after coming on as half time substitute in last month’s defeat to Liverpool he’s started every league game since.

Neto got the assist for Nicolas Jackson’s opener against Newcastle, whilst he was arguably Chelsea’s most threatening attacker against Manchester United and Arsenal, where he scored the equaliser.

The Portuguese took his recent impressive form onto the international stage and was amongst the goals for Portugal as they thrashed Poland on Friday night.

Neto received the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo and then unleashed a fierce drive past Marcin Bulka for his second goal for the national team.

The fact Neto can play on both the left and right wing is a big positive for Maresca, although Troy Deeney believes the winger is limited when he plays on the left.

Whatever side Neto plays on, one thing that has become abundantly clear in recent weeks is that he must start for Chelsea and on current form he’s arguably one of the first names on the team sheet.
