Celtic have doubled their lead before the break thanks to an excellent header from Auston Trusty. The USA Internationalist was recalled to the starting XI and rewarded the manager with a goal from an Arne Engels corner. The central defender wheeled away in celebration as he relished his first goal for the club since arriving from Sheffield United.
Engels’ corner was excellent but the run, jump and header left Hemming in the St Mirren nets with no chance.
Celtic can go thirteen points clear with a win over Stephen Robinson’s side after Rangers drew against Hibs at Easter Road. The Ibrox side were 2-0 up so the Celtic team will not be taking anything for granted yet.
