(Video): Thomas Tuchel denies Kai Havertz is a “false 9” and claims he can be a true striker

Chelsea have just drawn 0-0 with Leeds at Elland Road, and in his post match interview on BT Sport you could hear the disappointment in Thomas Tuchel’s voice.

Asked about whether he thought using Kai Havertz as a “false 9” had been effective, the coach rejected the premise, claiming that Havertz is a 9, and can play like one.

That was not an answer to the question he was asked, just a clever deflection. We think Tammy or Giroud would have played a little differently in that role today.
