Brentford manager Thomas Frank was salty in his post-match interview last night after watching his side lose 3-1 at home against Manchester United.

The Bees played well in the first half and put United under pressure but from listening to Frank’s post-match assessment, you’d think he was watching Barcelona pass their way through the game for 90 minutes.

David de Gea kept United in the game with a few saves but the hosts were nothing special.

Yet in a bizarre BT Sport interview, the Brentford manager claims his side ‘destroyed’ United before the break as he completely forgot about the other 45 minutes after half time.

Frank said: “Unbelievably proud of my team. We are the smallest club in the Premier League, Manchester United the biggest.

“We destroyed them in the first half, they didn’t have a sniff, three huge chances and there could only have been one winner of this game. They are unbelievably lucky. I know all the stuff about taking chances. They changed the system against little Brentford.

“One of those nights, fair play to David de Gea, if we get those certain chances again one will go win the back of the net. Our intensity killed them, we showed that in the first half, we played the Brentford way.

“Of the three goals, the second is most disappointing and difficult to come back from. The way we smashed them in the first half was fantastic, so proud of my team.”

It’s always concerning to see how reliant we are on De Gea, but it’s a good job he has become used to the pressure. Thankfully United showed the value of having clinical attackers and it was brilliant to see that all three goalscorer came directly from the United academy.

Frank had to learn the hard way but if you don’t take your chances against United, we have players that will make you pay, even if they are not currently performing at their best.
