Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was expected to play for Chelsea a lot this season given he was a key player for Enzo Maresca last season at Leicester.

But in fact it’s been incredibly tough for him to get into the team. His appearances have been really limited, even in the B team which now features in the cups.

So it was great to see him get a goal tonight. His comments on the team were quite revealing too:

“You come through the door and expectations are through the roof. The standards are SO high,” the midfielder explained.

He’s clearly seen the step up in level and now has to respond to it. It was never going to be easy getting into the first team picture, but there are plenty of games to go around anyway.

More games like tonight and he’ll put himself in position the moment a first teamer drops out.
