Roy Keane isn’t a fan of small talk and his latest admission has confirmed just that. The former Manchester United midfielder is covering this summer’s European Championships as a pundit and has hit out at Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell for the conversation which led to the pair isolating for seven days.

The decision to force Mount and Chilwell into a week-long isolation was a controversial one, especially so considering none of Scotland’s players have been forced to quarantine after Billy Gilmour tested positive.

“I don’t care if he’s your club teammate or not, I rarely speak to anybody for over five minutes,” Keane said. The former Ireland international’s rare insight into his personal life won’t have come as a surprise to anyone.

Mount and Chilwell were ruled out of England’s game against the Czech Republic on Monday and depending on where the Three Lions finish in the table, the pair could also miss their round-of-16 encounter.
