The winger went on to score 23 goals and register 25 assists in 129 appearances for the club’s first-team.
However, Sterling ended up forcing a move away from Anfield. Liverpool sold the England international to Manchester City for a transfer fee of €63.70 million.
Despite that being the case, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes that Liverpool should attempt to re-sign the winger at some point.
We don’t entirely agree with Ferdinand’s take. Yes, Sterling is a good footballer. The 26-year-old possesses a current market value of €90 million for a reason.
But, the reality is, Sterling forced his way out of Anfield. We can’t forget that. Besides, the forward may not want to return to Liverpool.
