Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor has provided insight into the reaction to Liverpool owner John W Henry’s apology video on Wednesday.

The Liverpool owner decided to publish a video apologising for his involvement in the Super League plans and admitted that it would never have gone ahead without the fans approving of it. He has taken full responsibility for the negative backlash from Liverpool fans and reiterated that he has the club’s best interests at heart.

O’Connor, stationed outside Liverpool’s training ground, has revealed that there has been a mixed reaction from Liverpool supporters. He claims some fans have recognised the good things Henry and FSG have done for the club and that this was an honest mistake by the owners, mentioning the ground developments that have been put in place along with the success on the pitch in the Premier League and Champions League.

However, O’Connor also points out that some fans have noticed a string of mistakes by the owners over the years, including attempts to increase ticket prices in 2016 and the furloughing of staff in 2020. Some fans want Henry to understand what the fans want instead of continuing to make mistakes before apologising, with this video being the latest example of that.

Football Daily shared the clip on Twitter, as originally aired on Sky Sports News, with O’Connor speaking about the negative and positive reactions from Liverpool supporters to Henry’s video this week.
