England have just beaten Latvia 3-0 at Wembley, and the highlight of the night was an incredible free kick goal from Reece James late in the first half.
On his first call up for two years, the full back clipped a brilliant right footed effort around and over the wall from miles out to notch a truly special first England goal.
He chose not to celebrate, after a tough period in his career. He must be thinking that this should be his 10th goal for his country, not his first.
You can see the superb effort in the clip embedded here:

The impressive height of James’ free kick before gravity took hold.
Speaking to ITV after the game, James was very modest about his effort:
“I saw the wall and I felt I could bend it around and thankfully I managed to hit the back of the net. I was a bit surprised it actually hit the net. I thought the keeper could have maybe got there, but looking at the replay, it was probably tough.”
Fellow goalscorer Eberechi Eze added to the praise for the Chelsea right back:
“We know the qualities that he’s got. He’s capable of hitting dead balls like that and it’s expected with his quality.”
And of course manager Thomas Tuchel had his say too:
“I know Reecey [James] and the quality the boy has is amazing.”
One step closer to Reecey starting at the World Cup next summer? Don’t rule it out… he’s just played his longest run of games without injury in two years, has his first England callup… we don’t want to jinx it, and there’s a long way to go before next summer’s tournament, but if he keeps playing well, who knows?
