Anthony Elanga and Scott McTominay have been speaking about new manager Erik ten Hag in an interview with Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy.

While it will be an exciting time for some of the players in the squad, it will be an extremely challenging time for others, with Ten Hag set to introduce his own playing style over the coming months.

Asked what he thinks of Ten Hag’s work to date, Elanga told Sky Sports: “You can see the way they were playing in the Champions League, not only this season but prior to this season, the way they have done in the leagues.

“He has got a fantastic record in Europe and the way he has developed young players, players that I have played against in the youth team as well as in the national team. I have got kind of an idea of what he can bring to the team, and I am really excited to work with him.”

Elanga was the first player to impress Ralf Rangnick when the German first took training with his group of players this season, but it will soon be Ten Hag in the hotseat. In his breakthrough season, the academy graduate has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in all competitions.

The 20-year-old Sweden international added that he has been speaking to Ajax players about working with Ten Hag.

“I have spoken to some of those players, when I played against them in the U17 Euros, so I have had a chat with them. All positive.”

McTominay sat in on the interview, too, and revealed how he plans to prepare for the arrival of Ten Hag.

The midfielder said: “Your switch off time is your holiday with your family.

“But even then I am still thinking ‘I need to train, I need to go and do some stuff’ to make sure I am in peak condition for the new coach.

“You never switch off, like even when you are on holiday it is not like go to wherever with your family, you are still thinking about coming back and having the best possible impact on the new coach.”

The Scotland international is one of the players who will have to work extremely hard to keep his place in the starting XI next season.
