Christian Pulisic admitted that he meant to cross the ball rather than shoot directly from a corner for Milan’s opener in Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League.

The USMNT star opened the scoring in San Siro on Tuesday night, scoring directly from a corner that completely fooled former Liverpool and Belgium ‘keeper Simon Mignolet.

Pulisic was on post-match media duty after Milan’s first Champions League win of the season, where he gave an interview in Italian, just over a year after he moved to the city of Milan from Chelsea.

He admitted that he had intended to simply cross the ball rather than shoot from an almost impossible angle.

“I had a bit of luck tonight, but it still counts as a goal,” the 26-year-old said.

“I’ve not practiced that before, but it was a good cross,” he laughed. “I’ll say that it was a beautiful goal, but I hadn’t been practicing that.”
