With a squad dealing with injuries, Paris Saint-Germain looked to Neymar Jr. to help carry them past Atalanta BC. The 28-year-old didn’t disappoint.

Despite missing two scoring opportunities, the Brazil international did register one assist, but with Neymar touching the ball 113 times, he was consistently creating scoring chances for Les Parisiens. In 90 minutes, Neymar had five key passes on 44 passes, so he did everything to help his teammates score.

After PSG’s dramatic 2-1 victory, Neymar spoke with the media with Canal Supporters relaying his words from the microphone.

“ It was a great night, very difficult, against a great team who have played well all season. It was the surprise of the competition with an aggressive team all over the field,” Neymar said. “We are very happy with what we did. We also had a great game. Now we will have to rest. It’s a game that has worn down a lot mentally.”

Neymar was asked whether he thought about being eliminated tonight.

“It was very difficult to get here. We are happy. We are experiencing very strong things. We are a wonderful group, we are a family,” Neymar said. “We know that with this state of mind, it’s impossible to put us outside this competition. I knew there was always a ball that could come. We knew we could score after having equalized. We never gave up.”

Finally, the Brazil international touched on the importance of the victory.

“The desire to win the Champions League was there long before that match,” Neymar said. “It never went away. There is one game left for the final, so we’re going to give everything and do everything to win.”
