Juventus’ new signing Tiago Djalo has revealed that he is already able to speak six languages, not including Italian, and has ambitions to add another two to his catalogue.

The 23-year-old centre back told Juve’s social media channels that he is able to speak English, Portuguese, French, Cape Verdean Creole, Guinea-Bissau Creole and a bit of Spanish.

He also hopes to add Italian and Mandarin Chinese to that list.

Juventus confirmed Djalo’s signing on Monday, arriving on a permanent transfer from Ligue 1 side Lille at a cost of €3.6m plus up to €3.1m in bonuses. He was into the final six months of his contract in France.

Serie A title challengers Inter had been hoping to bring Djalo to San Siro on a free transfer in the summer, but Juventus were able to provide Lille with an immediate cash offer.

Though Djalo has spent the vast majority of the last year out injured with a serious knee injury, multiple outlets reported on Thursday morning that he could be in line for a place in Massimiliano Allegri’s matchday squad at the weekend.
