Arsenal loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos started for Stuttgart away to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, and he scored arguably the best goal of his spell at the club so far.

Picking the ball up around 30 yards from goal, Mavropanos powered a low driven shot into the bottom corner of the net for 1-0. Even from the distance he was out, the shot was so precise that it was almost unstoppable.

Stuttgart couldn’t hold the lead, and they ended up drawing 1-1 to leave them 12th in the table with nine points after eight games.

But individually, Mavropanos has now scored more goals this season in nine games than he scored for any of his former clubs combined – PAS Giannina, 1.FC Nuremberg, Arsenal, and even his previous spell at Stuttgart.

The centre-back only had three career senior goals before 2021/22, he has four this season.

The defender never scored for Arsenal, nor officially for their u23s. He did get a goal in one u23 match against West Ham United, but the game was cancelled due to fog and it was replayed at a later date, nullifying his only Arsenal strike.

Mavropanos’ deal to join Stuttgart will turn permanent if they avoid relegation. So the 23-year-old and his loan side’s form will be eyed closely in North London as well.
