Christopher Nkunku made a longer than expected appearance today after coming on as a first half sub for Chelsea against Brighton. The attack made a great impact replacing Mykhailo Mudryk, scoring a goal and making a few other nice actions which really helped the team.
But that unexpectedly long spell on the pitch took it’s took, and he was knackered by the end.
It was notable that Pochettino’s final action of the game was waving a shattered Nkunku forward to try and relieve some pressure on the back line, but the Frenchman’s legs had totally gone.
Pochettino laughed about it in his presser afterwards, noting how happy he was to have his attacker back after such a long spell out. It was all in good fun – we can’t imagine it’s easy being dropped back into Premier League action like that, and Nkunku really did his part – until the tank was empty.
