Former Roma and Napoli defender Kostas Manolas was given a rapturous reception by the Salernitana supporters at the club’s open training session at the Arechi Stadium on Thursday afternoon, as the 32-year-old is set to join on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Manolas arrived in Salerno earlier on Thursday to complete the formalities of his move to the Granata, including a medical and his contract signing.
It is believed that he will have a contract until the end of the 2023-24 season with an option of a further year if Salernitana avoid relegation to Serie B at the end of the campaign.
The 32-year-old, who has already spent eight years of his career in Serie A through spells with Roma and Napoli, last played for Sharjah FC in the UAE Pro League. His two-year contract was terminated by mutual consent in January, roughly six months ahead of schedule.
Now, Manolas is just a club announcement away from being an official Salernitana player. He was given a warm welcome by the supporters when doing a lap of the Arechi pitch during Thursday’s training session.
