Former Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi scored his first goal since leaving Celtic this evening. The Japanese Internationalist found the net in his second outing for Birmingham City, but this was the first time he’d scored since leaving Celtic.
Kyogo left Celtic in January for Ligue 1 side Rennes but failed to register after the €10m move. However, he netted with a poacher’s finish for Chris Davies’ Blues.
In 165 appearances for Celtic, Kyogo scored 85 goals and assisted on 19 occasions. It was clear that the forward was looking for a move when he switched to CAA Base just a year after signing a longterm deal. Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the frontman wanted to make a move.
Birmingham are hugely ambitious but they are a Championship club. It remains to be seen whether the Japanese FA view this as a good enough level to encourage a call up for the World Cup next summer.
