After surrendering the first goal, Paris Saint-Germain had the opportunity to come away with the lead after AS Saint-Étienne committed a foul inside the box. Kylian Mbappé would have a chance to give the capital club a 2-1 advantage.

The 22-year-old would convert the penalty-kick and provide Les Parisiens with a lead that many thought would secure them the three points to stay on path with Lille OSC. Nonetheless, that didn’t prove to be the case.
