Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Fabinho following his performance against Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Klopp has hailed Fabinho’s ability to play at both centre-back and defensive midfield, citing his display in defence at home to Bayern Munich last season. He also points out that it was a tough task for the Brazilian because he had not played with Joe Gomez as a centre-back pairing before.
Speaking to BBC Merseyside Sport (1:06), Klopp spoke about Fabinho’s performance and the need for an understanding between the back four.
Fabinho put in a colossal defensive performance against Ajax as he registered four tackles and four interceptions at centre-back. He also added three aerial wins, nine clearances and a block to round off an outstanding display to prove that he has the quality to perform at the top level despite being out of position as a natural midfielder. He was given an impressive WhoScored rating of 8.71, following on from his last game at centre-back against Chelsea in the Premier League when he achieved a rating of 7.44.
