Cole Palmer has played very few senior games as a professional, and hasn’t faced the media much either. After his impressive performance against Brighton last night, he faced the friendly but still daunting prospect of a chat with Chelsea TV.

He diligently repeated the same lines we hear from every interview: “this is a project, this is a young team, there’s been a huge amount of chance – but that’s no excuse, etc.”

It’s sweet to see a young kid quite nervous, but still stepping up and doing the interview and saying the right things. We will need more of that kind of bravery from Cole and his teammates this season.
