Italy international Wilfried Gnonto is already off the mark for the 2024-25 season, netting on his first League appearance of the season for Leeds United in the English Championship.

Leeds were held to an entertaining 3-3 draw by Championship newcomers Portsmouth on the opening weekend of the Football League season.

Gnonto notched Leeds’s second of the afternoon, immediately after the re-start after the half-time interval, to set the scores at 2-2 at the time.

The teenager cut in from his preferred left flank, made his way central to the edge of the area, before cutting a low-shot back across his body and into the bottom corner of the Elland Road net.

Though the deadlock was broken twice more after his equaliser, the scores were still level at full-time, which leaved Leeds 10th in the Championship after one game.
