More than 18 months after signing, Estevao Willian has finally made his Chelsea debut in a Premier League game.

The hype has been immense – and well deserved. The kid looks like something really special, as we saw when he scored against us in the Club World Cup for Palmeiras, and as we saw in his friendly appearances last week.

The Stamford Bridge crowd are just as excited as us – you can see their reaction in the video here showing the Brazilian’s introduction. We honestly struggle to think of a debut with as much excitement around it since Eden Hazard.

Estevao makes instant impact on debut

Well, the Brazilian didn’t wait long to make an impact after coming on. Just seconds after this ovation, he picked up the ball on the right and started causing trouble right away. He got in behind Marc Guehi with a burst of speed and trickery, and stood up a cross to the back post which was just a couple of inches too tall for Pedro Neto.

It feels like if anyone’s going to make something happen in this second half it’s Estevao, and that’s quite the achievement given he’s playing just his first competitive minutes for us.

Estevao needs to step up and help his team earn 3 points

The crowd aren’t just excited to see their new favourite in action – they’re happy because of how he can affects this game. The Blues haven’t been bad, but haven’t created a huge amount in attack, and what they really need is the kind of creativity and originality that Estevao can bring to the attack.

He can take players on, he can create goals, and he can score. No wonder the crowd are on their feet hoping to see some debut magic this afternoon.
