2-0 Chelsea, and what looks like a win to open the group stage for the Blues. They’ve just had too much for LAFC in the end.

Things were a little nervy for a while as Enzo Maresca’s team simply couldn’t break down the opposition, but they’ve finally done it in style.
Cole Palmer played a clever reverse pass from midfield to Liam Delap, who had made the in to out run to find space and pull defenders wide with him.
Delap then stood up a really nice cross to Enzo Fernandez, who had attacked that space. The Argentine had time to bring the ball down and finish from close range.
All in all it was a slick move.

Well if you were hoping for a dream debut for Liam Delap, you would have wanted a goal. But an assist is nothing to sniff at, especially one which showcased his movement, his connection with Cole Palmer, and his technique.
As for Enzo, his goalscoring form was vital for us in the second half of last season, and it looks like it’s set to continue. That adds so much to his value as a player, and we hope that his manager can continue to structure the team to get him in such good positions.
Would it be too much to hope for that to be the first of a 20 goal season for the former Benfica man? Certainly we’d like to see him aim for 30 G/A, which is a big number – but then again so is £105m.
