Manchester United Women’s star Ella Toone shared a heartwarming video of her reaction to school friend, Keely Hodgkinson, winning gold at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Hodgkinson emerged victorious as she ran a brilliant race in the women’s 800m final at the Stade de France on Monday evening.
Toone and Hodgkinson – who is also a United fan – both attended Fred Longworth High School in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester.
The United star took to her TikTok account and shared a video of her watching the race in which Hodgkinson dominated.
Toone delivered the message (via United’s official website), “Congratulations Keely, I’ve just been screaming at the tele!”
In the footage, Toone is seen cheering on Hodgkinson to urge her over the finishing line.

“I am so proud of you, everyone was rooting for you back home, you have done us all proud, and Fred Longworth proud as well. Enjoy the celebrations – come on Keely!”
Hodgkinson spoke to the media and was shown Toone’s congratulatory message.
She replied, “How quickly did you get her to send that?”
“Oh that’s amazing, our school is going to be so happy. Me and Ella grew up together, she’s two years older than me but we went to the same school.”
“To see us both from the same hometown, on a world level, really pushing female sports is incredible. Ella’s doing amazing and I’m hoping to follow in her footsteps and do great things for women’s sport.”
Hodgkinson was asked about her thoughts on one school producing two amazing sportswomen. She remarked, “I know, they love us! I will be going back to say hi at some point because they really supported me at school as well.”
