Like those of us at Chelsea News, Simon Johnson thought he was in for a relatively relaxed week following the closing of the transfer window. Instead, the drama went up a gear, from players to ownership.

Johnson went on TalkSport to talk about the “negative distraction” caused by the whole affair. He pointed out that Stamford Bridge was “increasingly demoralised” by the whole thing, which is undeniable. Thing had been getting worse and worse before we knew that our owners had fallen out. We dread to think what the mood could be like now.
