Initiation songs are a common occurrence at club level but rarer on international duty where settings are believed to be more professional, but that didn’t stop the former Sheffield United shot-stopper from giving his own rendition of Mario’s hit song ‘Let Me Love You’.
“I’d probably steal the show so they won’t let me do it,” Henderson told BBC North when quizzed on if he had performed an initiation song in front of his international teammates.
The viral clip has already become an internet sensation, with suggestions that Henderson has discovered a career alternative should his footballing dreams not go to plan.
Hendersons’ encapsulating performance was followed by Raheem Sterling, who switched up the vibe with a Jamaican tune. The Manchester City forward was less happy for the video to be made public, however.
