Callum McGregor was excellent in the midfield for Scotland. The Celtic star was recalled as Scotland battled to a point at Wembley but should have maybe left with more after leaving Gareth Southgate’s side devoid of ideas. McGregor, who is likely to become Celtic’s next captain, spoke so well after helping dominate the midfield alongside John McGinn and Billy Gilmour.

Scotland’s fate is in their own hands with the game against Croatia on Tuesday now standing in their way between progression and elimination. McGregor starting certainly had a bearing on the result as Clarke knows that he can trust the player entirely.
