The Red Devils, who are hosting Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, in the Premier League on Thursday night have seen the former midfielder make a couple of selection changes.

With Nemanja Matic and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both out with minor injuries, there will be opportunities for Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot to come in and impress.

Speaking ahead of the Premier League game, which is scheduled to kick off at 8.15pm (UK time), Carrick revealed a large part of his pre-match team talk included reminding the team just how much of an honour it should be to play in the club’s famous red shirt.

“Every game is a chance to impress,” Carrick said. “What a place to play football.

“So anyone who puts a shirt on and steps out – I said that to them in there – what a responsibility to go and excite the fans and entertain and create an energy and an atmosphere in the stadium.”
