Paris Saint-Germain forward Angel Di Maria opened the scoring for Argentina in their FIFA World Cup Qualifying fixture against Chile.
With no Lionel Messi, manager Lionel Scaloni not traveling due to him testing positive for Covid-19, along with other players contracting the virus; the PSG man led the way for the group.
La Albiceleste would secure a 2-1 victory on the road, and after the match, the 33-year-old spoke to the media, where he provided his thoughts.
“We played a good game,” Di Maria said. “We knew that the altitude was going to cost us, despite this and the problems when we arrived, we pulled this off, we were missing the best in the world, we were without the coach, and this is for them.”
“When [Messi] is here, everything is easier, he wasn’t there, and we had to divide the force, and everything is for our companions who could not be. We are happy.”
